In August 2017 Hurricane Harvey left a path of destruction across Hardin County, Texas.
Over 5,000 flooded homes and displaced individuals and families
Approximately 2,000 homes received major damage or were destroyed
Less than 13% of our impacted community carried flood insurance coverage
Through the vision of County Judge Wayne McDaniel, Hardin County Strong was formed to help individual households recover from Harvey. Hardin County Strong is a 501c3 non-profit organization which operates seperately from Hardin County. For three (3) years Hardin County Strong focused on Harvey recovery and unmet needs.

All Hurricane Harvey cases were completed in August 2020. Hardin County Strong remains sustainable, active and continues to serve the Hardin County community. We have responded to Tropical Storm Imelda, the COVID crisis, Hurricane Laura and Winter Storm Uri. We also provide immediate needs assistance to households impacted by fires and other types of disaster, and provide other immediate relief needs. Hardin County Strong partners with individuals and organizations who can assist with money, manpower and materials. We provide assistance on a case-by-case basis and our assistance is funding-based.
